Dr Dorothea Akosua Anim is a specialist radiologist at the Department of Radiology, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and the first female interventional radiologist in Ghana. A pioneer and role model, she is part of the historic team that established interventional radiology training in the country.
Her academic and research contributions span CT and MRI applications, angiography, and interventional techniques, with publications on intracranial aneurysms, imaging in headache patients, and the “Ghana Model” for developing interventional radiology training in resource-limited settings. She is also actively engaged in public health education, especially around women’s health and minimally invasive treatments.
Having successfully navigated the demanding path of radiology residency, Dr. Anim embodies resilience, leadership, and excellence. In her talk on “Thriving in Radiology Residency” she will share practical lessons on:
- Building strong clinical and imaging foundations
- Leveraging mentorship and teamwork
- Maintaining wellness and balance
- Cultivating curiosity and research productivity
- Preparing for advanced subspecialty training
Her story is one of breaking barriers, inspiring young doctors — especially women — to aim higher and thrive in radiology and beyond.
